Yuchengco Group, started by his late father, Enrique, as a small insurance firm in 1930, now has more than 60 businesses, including controlling stake in Rizal Commercial Bank, country's fifth-largest bank by assets. In May 2011, he signed a deal with CVC Capital Partners to sell 15% of the bank for $115 million. Alfonso Yuchengco is a former ambassador to China, Japan, and Germany.
